Two annoucements. Actually, three.
1.) Watch National Honor Society's SINGLED OUT: THE DATING SHOW event this Friday, February 16th! From 4-6 at the Little Theatre...entrance fee is 50 pesos. Please come, we need your support. Funds will go to Pakistani victims!
2.) Attention, seniors! The senior picture and video will be taken on Thursday, March 23rd during lunch. Attire is semi-formal. I won't be generous this time like the superlatives situation.
3.) So most of you have heard, Milosevic died last week. I didn't like the guy, hell I didn't even like his lawyer. I watched his trial two months ago while I was visiting the Hague and anyone could tell that his lawyer's arguments were going nowhere. Half the judges were asleep. Literally! You get the point.

I have something else to say. Thinking of anti-christ people like Milosevic made me think of Hitler. But you know what's odd? So fahhreaking odd?! Franklin D. Roosevelt and Hitler are more common than people think. That's ridiculous. And scary. I can give you five reasons that make Hiter the not-so-antithesis of FDR. If you ask me, I'll tell you. But then again, you probably won't want to know how one of the greatest American Presidents is comparable to one of the worst men in history. Some people even say that FDR was on the road to dictatorship. The world is strange.

I love this poem. Charlotte Delbo mixes sadness and beauty here amazingly. It's beautiful because it makes you realize the glory in even the most simplistic human practice- walking. It's sad because we recognize the hardship that the Holocaust survivors went through...and because it dawns on us that we haven't taken advantage of our existence.
Sigh, I find such wonderful things while searching the net.

A friend of our family committed suicide yesterday. I didn't know him personally, but his family and himself were close to my aunts, uncles and cousins in Lake Forest, IL. Hearing all these stories about him and just everything is so disheartening. Please pray for him.
Edit:
I've been thinking about it and it isn't fair what Alex did. He was being selfish. He left so many people in this world who love him so much. Now that he's dead, they're completley heartbroken. My uncle says that his mom is hysterical- she refuses to speak with anyone, even her other children. Alex took his own life, but he took four other lives as well- his mom's, dad's, brother's and sister's.
I looked outside earlier today, and for a moment, I thought to myself, shit, it's such a beautiful day. That's when I wondered, what was Alex thinking? Alex was such a beautiful (inside and out) kid, with so many things to be grateful to God for. I think we all need to see the beauty of life once in awhile. All of us are guilty of only seeing the bad and that has dire consequences to our emotional (and even spiritual) well-being. Alex's death is a lesson to all that we should cherish life and not take for granted those around us. If you think someone is having a bad day, go up to and hug that person. Maybe you'll be changing his or her life forever. Maybe if someone told Alex that day that everything would be ok, he wouldn't have committed this act.
